Govt Ordinance a Mockery of Jstc Verma Committee

The Bekhauf Azaadi Campaign Has Called for a Protest Against the Ordinance that makes a mockery of the Justice Verma Committee Recommendations.

To understand the injustices they are trying to perpetrate click on this link . It is very disturbing.

As Indian Homemaker commented, be it a 16-year old girl who has sexual contact with her boyfriend to a married woman who says no to her husband, the ordnance just fails to accept a woman’s own autonomy and consent as crucial to deciding if rape occurred or not! The ordnance continues to make excuses for certain powerful perpetrators of rape: it continues to ensure that certain institutions of power (marriage/police/army/judges/magistrates/public servants/politicians) remain protected from prosecution for rape.

If you can make the time to attend I know it will be a victory for the safety of innocent people - both male and female - on our streets and in your own homes. It will defeat power brokers whether in the guise of "authoritative" figures or "moral police".

DATE, TIME, VENUE: 4th of February at 2 pm at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi.

  1. Thanks for sharing this KayEm. It is absolutely essential that people come together to ensure that we do not see a repeat of the lokpal farce. The silence of the political brahmins and khaps in this matter and the collusion by all to push through cosmetic changes is truly disgusting and sad.

    1. If people are used to getting their own way they'll do everything "in their power" to continue doing so. At least, on this issue the aam insaan is speaking out and with one voice.

    1. Wonder why they are exempt. It doesn't leave you in awe of their self control and discipline, does it?

To my mind, it isn't women or decent men who should feel second class in India, Rajni. That is a tacit agreement to sink to the poor, low and backward standards set by some ignorant men.

    1. Hope the government realises how strongly the aam insaan feels about the ridiculous exemptions, Farzana. As if being from the army excuses someone's lack of self control.

  4. I wonder, We have many females among politicians, what are they doing about it. Why aren't they raising a baton against it or they think because of their exalted , they ans women in their family are exempted from such crimes!

    1. We should ask each individual politician - male or female - their personal opinion before voting for them. If their "high" command has ordered them not to say anything we should look elsewhere.
